Oh, the beauty of Facebook! A close friend of a close friend who I did not know until yesterday is involved in a very interesting football project. We swapped contact details and a few minutes later, Chris sent me this. It seems like a very worthy cause and if you can support or even just attend, I know the guys will be grateful.

Plymouth Kraken FC are working in collaboration with Plymouth Football Boot Bank for help raise funds for the boot bank.

The boot bank coach children from all backgrounds especially children from poorer backgrounds and help to supply the children with football boots, shin pads, goalkeeper gloves, etc through donations of either money, boots or the generosity of local football clubs donating bibs, etc. The bootbank will refurbish any football boots donated to them in bootbank bins placed throughout the city of Plymouth. The refurbishment could be new laces or new studs or both.

The boot bank also have a small building so if the weather is too wet then the children can play darts (either normal darts or magnetic darts) and other activities. Plymouth Kraken FC and their players so far have donated new laces, new studs, new bibs, new socks, new shinpads, new goalkeeper gloves, new footballs, etc and have also donated darts and a new magnetic Luke Littler dartboard for the younger children to play.

We are looking for sponsors for our fundraising football match on Saturday 28th March with a 16.30 kick off with Plymouth Kraken FC vs Plymouth Football Boot Bank. We are also looking for donations for our raffle with all monies raised going to the boot bank.
